Thread locked

What does it mean?

What happens when a thread is locked? Is it the same as being close or what?

It means that no further posting to that thread can be done. This is either because the thread has expired (there haven't been posts for awhile) or a mod/admin locked it. If the former case and you would like to add to a thread, start a new thread and link to that one so people know what you are talking about.
