I can't seem to find it anywhere - How much is it to register for the upcoming PubCon web conference in Las Vegas?

Also, I'm under 21 but over 18 - am I ok to register?

Thanks,

Kyle

ya, anyone over 16 can register and attend. Minors will need a parental unit permission form...

Shouldn't registration be open today? It is 8/1/07. :)

Previously, it was July 11th. :)

It will be my first pubcon and I am very excited about attending. Some people I know attended last year and were very impressed and got a lot of great information.

I think there are places in the world where it now August 2nd. LOL

Please excuse my enthusiasm.

Now it's the 8th?

I'm really just looking for a price range before I even consider registering.

yeah the longer it goes without price or registration, hotel rates go up, flights, conflicting schedules, etc all come into play.

Many hotels let you cancel without a fee so you may want to just book something and lock it in. I did that with the Renaissance (third night free from their direct website) then you can change or cancel later if needed.

I don't have any insider knowledge, but previous pubcons were in the range of $400-$500. Really, the registration cost is an almost insignificant part of the process. (Even if $500 is a lot of money for you, it's one of those things that you're likely to more than pay for your costs just by attending).

Anyone get a reservation at the Wynn hotel yet?

I just called to reserve a room and the block code is all booked up already.

If you give the discount or code the hotel will honor the convention rate. I called on Friday and got the discounted rate.

I too would really like to know how much PubCon is going to be this year. I've been the last couple years, but this time I'm trying to get a couple coworkers to go, and need to know how much it'll be. Two months of "Online registration will be open in a few days" is ridiculous - just be honest. Registration is not available now, it'll be sometime in the future.

My only quarrel with Pubcon, is doesn't it collide with SES Vegas this year?

It overlaps with SES Chicago, I believe.

SES is for sissies.

No. Pubcon is where the SEO'ers go to mingle. SES is where they go to feed :).

Hehe, yeah...since I don't consult at all and am not looking for clients, SES is like kindergarden for me.

I guess if you want to learn how to rank for your domain name you can find a company at SES to charge you $10,000 a month to do so lol...

SES is great to get those that need your help. But you can register for that way in advance.

(A tinge of sarcasm here....) Pubcon better get going with registration though as people weighing both and putting a budget together will wind up going to SES because no one knows when or how much Pubcon will be. A recent blog post was great about getting your boss to a conference. But the result of all that is killed when one can't put a price on it. "uh, boss, I need to go a conference that may cost somewhere between $800 and $1745 (SES)."

I know a couple of people who I was recommending conferences too a while ago. I was pushing Pubcon over SES (and still am) but their budget plans are making them plan more on SES at this point.

On the other hand, a blank page with a line of plain text about registration may make enough of those newbies and corporations turn away so it will be a big help in keeping it smaller and more advanced!

Edit: Just saw the post about reg opening tomorrow.
