Forum Moderators: open
1. why would you "close" a thread and prevent further posts to it? Someone might have something of importance to add. I've _never_ seen that before.
2. when you say "see the faq" or forum charter, etc, make it a LINK to the faq or whatever it is, this is the www after all
Whew, anyway I'm interested in usability on the web. I remember using 300 baud modems and dialing into bbs. I switched to Linux desktop in 2002 and never looked back. Thats also when I started programming (php, perl, java, C).
Thee is a good explanation as to why older threads become locked in this thread [webmasterworld.com] (see msg#4 by Brett_Tabke). As for the links, some members link and others do not, but you can always access the forum charter [webmasterworld.com] from the link below the breadcrumbs on each page, or the terms of service [webmasterworld.com] in the page footer.
If you're interested in usability, you might like the Accessibility and Usability forum [webmasterworld.com] which was introduced recently. :)
There is a lot more information available in our welcome post [webmasterworld.com] too, with many more links to other sections, key threads and resources.
