...very slow on first page load, any idea why?

I recently got a Sprint PCS cellular modem marketed as wireless broadband.

Works great on most sites.

But when I log onto WW my first page loads are very slow, meaning it seems to take 30 - 45 seconds to load the login page and about the same or longer to load the active list the forst time after logging in.

That's slower than on my dial-up connection, which seems odd.

Any idea why it's like this?

No one else has this experience?
Or any insight as to why it might be happening?

Seems like an issue with cache, although I'm not sure why that would be. Have you tried clearing everything and trying again? It seems, however, that nobody else is experiencing this so this leads me to believe its a problem on your end...

Yeah, I think I've tried all the clearing cache, cookies, etc. What puzzles me about this is that it only seems to be happening here at WW.

It's not a big issue, just puzzles me. Ah well, it still works well enough once the first couple of page loads are made.

on a verizon card right now - and it is downright zippy. Must be a routing issue Ken.

>> Routing,.. hmmm, maybe, this thing does seem to take some odd turns now and then. Haven't figured that out yet either, at least it warns me before dumping me into a (extra cost) roaming connection.

>> Zipping... yeah, me too, after the first couple page loads each session. Odd.

I got it as an alternative to using WiFi when I travel.

I surf this site regularly on my EVDO phone and it is always zippy ... never have a problem with the home page.
