Experiencing partial page loads on WebmasterWorld

maybe once or twice a week

Thought I'd mention what's been an ongoing issue for me. Maybe once or twice a week, I experience partial page loads on WebmasterWorld. Refreshing the page always fixes it, but some days it's a real drag. Most of the page loads, but the bottom is cut off. Sometimes, there's a bit of code displaying just before the cutoff.

I've reported it a number of times, so my system specs should be on record, but it remains a problem. It's probably less frequent now than it was several months back.

Anyone else seeing this?

Hi,

I have an appallingly lossy connection at home over WiFi, and I believe this happens when TCP (under the HTTP) is unable to recover from lost data or the connection is reset for some other reason.

Damon - Thanks. My connection is hard-wired Earthlink DSL. I'm not having a similar problem on any other site... but then I'm probably not spending as much time on any other site as I am on WebmasterWorld. ;)

I did not experience the problem when I had dial-up.

Hi,

It is *much* rarer for an established TCP connection to fail this way than to fail to establish the connection in the first place, so you really wouldn't expect to see it very often. TCP is very robust once established.

I think, I may have narrowed it down. Too many drop flags Robert.

drop me a sticky mail tomorrow and we'll see if I can delete (saved though) and clear the problem up...

Brett - Interesting about the flags... I was in them the other day deleting some of them, and it's really a clumsy process. You have to delete them one at a time and wait for the whole page to refresh. I considered posting a suggestion that it would be great to have check boxes so we could delete a group of them at once.

If other members have been like me and just left the old flags in place, making flags easier to delete might lessen some load on your server.

Brett - Noticed the board seemed much faster and checked my flags... and yes, you've removed them. I assume cause and effect here. So that much of a change is noticeable right off the bat.
