Where the logout button

Usually, I browse WW at home, so I don't care about login out when I leave the computer alone. Put, today, I browse from the Public Library, and I was shok to see my password and other stuff eassyly viewable from the public terminal.

I can't beleive the password is not doted and can be read so easily.

Also, I don't see any gizmo to log on the server for a short period of time. When members are login, they stay connect for a while.

Also, I have to search the logout button a while before I find it.

Any hope the see this irritant fix

To signout, go into the Control Panel, and "Signout" is the second to the last option on the page.

Under "System Preferences" in the control panel, you can set the cookie duration from 3560 days to "Until I close my browser". That should give you a shortened login time.

Thank for the time out, I just but at the "browser" level, but, this is not the best solution. Must be ask, when members log to the system, expecially, when members log from differents locations.

Also, password must be hidden.

Yes, I too was a little shocked by the password being shown; this is bad security practice these days, especially as HTTP traffic can be sniffed and the caches of public browsers examined.

Just say NO to plaintext passwords, kids!

3560 days

That always struck me as a bit of a risk. Forgetting to log out from a public computer once could mean still being logged in for anyone who uses it ten years later... I guess that logging in itself is quite server intensive so Bret wants to minimise that?

It would be nice to be able to set the logout time per computer not per account. I'd like 3560 days on my home PC but I'd not want more than a session cookie on a public PC. If I change the setting in the control panel then it affects my home PC as well...

As a workaround for the missing logout button, you could add the link to one of the 'custom code' fields in the System Preferences. That way it will be displayed on every page.
