Forum Moderators: open
In less than 12 hours I've been able to learn some invaluable information on hoosting my sites' unique hits, search engine rankings, and whatnot (although I did accidently break rule #21, how did I miss that one?).
I've started my own company a few months ago doing web design and only have a few select clients at this time (luckily they're pacient and their sites are constantly changing when I learn new things).
I was referred here by one of my wife's friends (she helped train his dog, I think he should know who I am if he reads this, Zorro says hi). A thank you goes out to him for referring me to this site, too.
Well, back to studying and learning, then later to work (ugh). Again, thank you for the site.
The reason why I ask is because (as stated) I'm still learning (and it's a lot) and like to incorperate what I've learned into my sites (recently I started playing with CSS and PHP). I've re-vamped one small site, but I am planning to revamp my two main sites (each average about 20 hits per day, which isn't bad for what they are) later in the week (possibly starting tonight).
Right now, I think my web design skills (on a scale of 1-10) rank about a 3-4 (really bad for me). I have a site that I can have some people look at it, but they're probabaly a 5-7, but this site seems to have some people who are in the 7-10 range and I'm trying to learn as much as possible.
(If this part isn't OK, mods feel free to edit it out).
Even if people sent me a PM with their email addesses, I could email them when these sites are updated for critiques, or if there's a seperate forum that some of these people do visit. (It's really sad that I'm opening myself up for the type of abuse that these forums try to avoid). :S
Well, thank you for your time and hopefully someday I'll be able to contribute to the forums beyond asking the typical 'newbie' questions and *ahem* accidently breaking the rules. :)
the other thing is that who cares what other people think
develop for your users, let them show you what they think by returning to your site
if you need help with php, css or any other tech stuff then post relevant snippets and explain what you are trying to do, someone can help, specifics aren't necessary
Webmasterworld is absolutely great for almost anything you can imagine, but as you can see we don't do site critiques.
If you are interested in having your site critiqued from a usability and accessibility perspective, head over to Accessifyforum where they have a topic for just that.
Thank you again!
