With the recent changes in SEO & internet marketing, this can be a tough, overwhelming industry. I was thinking about how I'd approach SEO if it weren't for WmW and I was appalled at the thought - I don't know how I'd do it.
So I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who contributes here. It's like a wave -
With the info. we have access to here, there's a good possiblity that the decisions we make will be positive and effective. This allows us to have a positive impact in the lives of those we work with. They, in turn, affect everyone who is a part of their own lives, and on and on it goes. This is especially nice when it comes to a board such as this one, where people share their time & information willingly.
A special thank you to Brett for all his work in making sure WmW is user-friendly and a place where everyone is welcome and where quality information can be shared in a warm, friendly environment.
Cheers!
The amount of knowledge that we have all accumulated, and the skills of the other members continue to amaze me.
Sincerely thanks Brett, RCJ, Littleman, Marcia, NFFC, strcim, and all the other mods and members for making Webmasterworld my absolute favorite site on the net. I know that without everybody here, from those who post once, to those who post thousands of time, I learn daily from you all.
Thanx Guy's you are all brilliant. Keep up the good work.
Joining the ranks of moderators has opened not only a new door but also a new respect for what it takes to put this board together and keep it running daily. Believe me when I say, these folks really care. They care about the integrity of the board and the information. They strive to ensure that you not only receive pertinent, timely information, but that it’s not clouded in self-promotion or spam. That in itself, is truly a work of art.
You’ll notice that when someone posts for the first time it’s quickly followed with a welcome and a response to their question. You’ll also notice, it’s not just moderators who do this. That’s because it is a community and an open one that encourages participation. I like that.
Thank you all for making me feel welcome and for giving some of my little ideas a chance. I’m working on participating more and that’s a big deal. I too tend to lurk but have found that in jumping in I actually learn more. Also, I figure if I jump in more, maybe my posts won’t be so long :)
Thanks Brett for sharing this terrific place with us all and to all of you who share your questions and your wisdom so that we can help to raise the level of industry and find success in our lives.
This place is my second home already !
Ok, back to lurking again now..
My current full time job has nothing to do with computers or the interent, or anything of the sort (other than using one to word process). But being in a dying industry (unless George W. gets his way) I needed to make a change. I've taught myself pretty much all I know about computers and IT over the last 10 years, and have gotten to the point where I feel I could do a pretty good job in any IT position. However, after hearing "you just don't have the formal training we're looking for" too many times, I decided that if I were going to break into this industry, I'd have to do go it alone, rather than go to work for someone else.
I've heard the old addage that if you want to succeed at something, you should surround yourself with others who are successful at it. That eventually led me here. With so many successful IT professionals offering such knowledge, this place has pretty much helped to change my life. Just in my day to day visits to these forums, I know I've learned 10 times more than I ever could have in some "formal training program." Although I continue learn more and more, and my IT business is in it's early stages, I feel in another year or so, with what I've learned here in the past year, I may be ready to make the big transition to full time.
Although my posts here aren't quite the quantity of many of the other mods, I strive to make them as high in quality as I can. I contribute where I can, but I still have so much to learn! Co-moderating the Google forum has also raised the bar for me to learn all that I can about Google and SEO in general.
With these forums being so instrumental in helping me change my career, you can imagine how thankful I am for Brett in creating WebmasterWorld and setting such a high standard for a great place to learn, and the other mods as well.
I hope to someday be in a position to give back all that I have gotten from this community.
Thanks a million!
HOWEVER - I really have to say, on behalf of all the staff here, that we owe you, the members, a huge THANK YOU as well. This is a phenomenal community with many many contributors. It is your style and contributions that give us all something do, something to learn or something to laugh at everyday.
Thank you WMW members ;)
