This morning WebmasterWorld was down from 8:10 am to around 9:00 am (GMT+1) my local time.

searchengineworld, where we met last time during the latest WebmasterWorld downtime isn't there anymore.

Where to go during possible downtimes?

The bar is always my solution!

I posted a question on web hosting reliability, as soon as this site came back up, from my bar! Personally I think downtime due to web hosting issues is kind of "old fashioned".

50 minutes down for me would cost about $2k, 20% more than my monthly hosting bill for 100% uptime. So 50 minutes down doesn't work for me ;)

I love loyalty, but, maybe the host of this site just doesn't deserve it? I know I wouldn't tollerate it, but, that is not my call!

I seem to see more outages since WW new hosting arrangements than the last one!

I suggest that WebmasterWorld creates a mini-site with only few pages or a blog where Brett and/or the kind administrators post alerts and situation reports to the community, in case of downtimes.

I had the same experience in the last months, and looked with traceroute many times where the actual problems was. From where I am in the Netherlands, the old server took the Atlantic connection via savvis.net. I am however connected with the new server via above.net.

Almost everytime I used traceroute to find out why I couldn't reach WebmasterWorld, there was a problem between the UK and NL branch of above.net and not with WebmasterWorld.

So if you can't reach WebmasterWorld, it is not always because the server is down. There are many possible reasons.
