Weeding new members

From my signup mail:

We run a new member file "weed" routine every 30 days. Members not posting within 30 days of sign up are removed from the member list.

Is there nowhere for anyone to submit such a post without annoying others, if all they want is access to the boards?

As you can probably tell - this is my post to prevent being 'weeded', and I'd be most disappointed if I do because of this post...

Contributions are what makes this community a community.

If you are going to be a lurker, that's fine, but you should consider giving your 2 cents every once in a blue moon if not more.

Hi Paul and welcome to WebmasterWorld! No, we certainly don't want to "weed" you out. :) Feel free to look around - you might find this introduction to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com] useful for starters.

You can remain in lurk mode if you want, but I find that the more you put in, the more you'll get out - I hope you'll feel the urge to post from time to time. ;)

Hi Paul. Congratulations, no weed for you. I could see a justification for weeding as described, traffic here is high volume and cleaning those databases is just part of keeping this place running smoothly. We are a community and, personally, I'm glad you dropped in to say hi. So let me add my Welcome, and I hope I'm around to to see you around.

From a community standpoint, if everyone lurked, we wouldn't have a thriving community.

Suggestions for contributing include, asking a question, responding to another memeber's question, contributing news, commenting upon a discussion, starting a topic of interest. Are you a marketing person, are you a programmer, are you a webmaster? There are lots of areas where you might find like-minded individuals and businesses.

We'd welcome your contributions.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't intend on being a lurker forever, but didn't want to be 'kicked off' as it were for not posting within the time limit.

From previous experiences with online fora, I've found it best to lurk to begin with, and was unsure if I'd be visiting here enough within the time limit in order to feel able to de-lurk as it were.

Thanks again all.

That's cool. And as encylco said, welcome to WebmasterWorld.
