Hadn't returned to the post about the centered side by side buttons, but just realized there had been additional entries. Inside was a little gem from Suzy that expanded on what Setek had said... namely that block elements don't need to be defined if they are floated, they are block by default.

I was able to go back and quash a hack I had implemented to solve the issue.
