Hi there,... first off, I'm very glad I stumbled accross WebmasterWorld before I embarked on my 6 month journey of getting my own site, ceceptualized, designed, built and ultimately live! In particular the discussions around SEO, Google, and community were eye-opening.

So. Thanks,...

Second, I have a question about the below line in the forum rules:

10: Review my site posts. We prefer to educate webmasters to make their own judgements. It is impossible to determine if a "review my site" post is a legitimate request, or just a sneaky promtional request - so we don't do them.

I don't want to ask for a 'review' of my site, but I do want to ask advice on how to get users to populate it w/ relevant data. The site is a platform for forum addicts to list their favorite forums and rank them. The point of the site is to let folks who know forums' value, find new forums on unfamiliar topics quickly.

Can I present my site here and ask that give adivce on how to get people to add forums?

Thanks,
-R

No, but a generic question about getting people to participate in forums is very relevant to the community and forum building forum.

The site isn't a forum itself, it is about forums and intended to become an actively maintained DB of forums.

Any suggestions on good sites that welcome site review requests?

Thanks!

Ya, there are quite a few guys here that run similar sites (directories..etc) to that. If we allowed one to promote/mention their site, we would have to allow all. Chaos then ensues...
