Is this a glitch or is there no longer a forum on affiliate issues?

did you recently turn on an adblocker?

the url causes the link to be hidden by some adblockers

I'm on my hubbies computer as mine is in the shop. Maybe he has something blocked.

It only seems to be for the one forum. In fact I can get to a page that has the description but it isn't clickable and no underline.

Strange it is only the one forum. I can access the forum by typing in the direct link but the resulting page has no links and much of the text is missing. Why would it be just the one forum?

I have Norton running and I can see it fine.

Well my hubby's computer has both Norton security and antivirus on.

It's not a big problem for me as I will be back on my own computer soon.

I'd fiddle around with the options to see if I could fix it but things are getting a bit testy around here with both of us on one computer. ;)

Mostly I just find it so curious that it would happen with just one forum.

does it also hide the link I am posting below

[webmasterworld.com...]

link above

just wondering

>> I have Norton running and I can see it fine.

I know there is a product that does this and specifically to this link, I just can't quite remember which one it was

Jatar, I don't see any link at all on your last message.

There is nothing between below and above.

The whole affiliates forum page looks like that. Blanks where the linked text would be.

The computer has Norton Internet Security 2004 and Norton Antivirus 2004. I don't think Norton will be supporting this version anymore and we have just sent for a newer version.

Maybe once people aren't using this older version it won't be a problem. That would explain why others with Norton are seeing the forum just fine. Most people probably have newer versions.

Norton had ad blocking on as default and few users even noticed. It supposedly didn't target links, but as the example above shows it certainly does!

It also strips images from sites mistaking them for banner ads.

hehe, the link was right between above and below annej

it's Norton

the link has the word

a d v e r t i s i n g

in it. A very simple flag, not sure how often it would be tripped, or be a false positive, but entertaining none the less.

sorry no fix from our end

"a d v e r t i s i n g"

Oh funny! I'm so glad Norton is protecting me from myself. ;)

I'll deal with it when I get my computer back if it happens there.

Mostly I was just so curious about what caused it. Now the mystery is solved.

What is triggering this link from being shown?

I have a page on my own website that has the word "advertise" in the url, and has "advertising" on the page. But nothing is being blocked on it. Why is this one forum link on WW being blocked? How do I configure Norton to allow me to see it? These ad blockers are p*#&ing me off. How many sales are we losing?

jatar, I'm back on my own computer and I can see it just fine now. I do have Norton viris checker but not firewall. Or it may just be the version.

crobb, do you have the word advertizing in the link? It looks to me it may only get blocked if it's in the anchor text.

Whoops. More likely they are blocking the word "advertising"
