Forum Moderators: open
I certainly don't mean to step on any toes, and hope my bringing this up is not inappropriate, but I was just thinking it might be a decent idea.
I used to think the idea of having a blog on a commerce web site was, well, kind of nutty. Who cares? I go to web sites to buy a product, not read the site owner/manager's opinions on the latest gossip, right?
But, I now see that blogs can be a useful tool in terms of building web site popularity. Some people will return again and again, just to read your comments. Heck, some just want the opportunity to respond to your comment, and promote their own web site in their signature.
The advice I used to see for web site development, is to have a nice "About" page that tells about the person or people running the site. It's something that gives an otherwise impersonal experience a personal touch. You can see the people who are behind the site.
I think the blog may be the more recent equivalent of that. It gives a more dynamic personal touch than just a picture and a static "about us" text block.
So, I thought I'd just toss that idea out there. Feel free to toss it around, or toss it in the trash, or just point me to where I have shamefully overlooked the current blogging forum. ;-)
I say this because they are basically just a simple website with a simple CMS. Everything that applies to "regular" websites also apply to blogs.
Granted there is a "forum" forum...
But where does WebmasterWorld draw the line?
Blog forum, wiki forum, forum forum...there could be hundreds.
