New server forum

Those are copies of a thread started on the "Spare WebmasterWorld"

In light of the last events I would like making a suggestion Brett would you consider a server forum,
(after a good rest :) )
not judging or passing names around. But a discussion about servers, install, moving, DNS, Pleks, C-Panel Installing updates etc... Simply a server management forum. Unless I do not know where it is hidden (If it exists) is my suggestion feasible? Regards Henry

seconded... I'd enjoy contributing to a dedicated server forum. I currently manage my sites on 2 boxes, 1 in Germany and the other in Texas, probably just down the road from the new WebmasterWorld! Would be good to share hints and tips regarding setup, monitoring, performance tuning etc.

Hi, Yes, I'd be on for that, including where to site multiple mirrors for good coverage of various demographics, SEs, etc. (Currently tweaking my code in prep for my new AsiaPac mirror!) Rgds Damon

My server was on the same WestHost router as WebmasterWorld.com was. From my point of view, since WestHost has been terrifc for the last seven years, I plan on sticking with them. However, the events of last week left me more dazed and confused than ever. Anything I could learn here on a new server/hosting forum would be greatly appreciated.

We will keep those forums over there for the time being. We can't do a hosting/server forum here out of spam considerations. Even in the few days we had those up over there - it was clear the spammers were coming around. We turned off posting on several spammers (in the webhosting world, they are called, Hoster Posters)

I think that Brett is probably right. It may also be worthy of note that there are already Apache Forums (none for IIS though, although that's probably as it's still a minority persuit), Domain Name forums, Unix Linux and *nix like OS forum, as well as the general webmaster, professional webmaster, and new to webmaster forums. I'd imagine that should cover most of what a hosting/server forum should, once you take out advertisments and specifics.

Exactly - we have the Linux, Windwos, .Net, and apache forums to cover almost all the server operations questions.
