Whew - What an ordeal.

Some day this week when the smoke finally clears, I will give a full accounting of what just occurred.

Moral of the story: we will have a real world workable disaster plan in place by the end of the month. It will specifcy that WebmasterWorld will not be offline for no more than 4 hrs maxium regardless of the circumstances.

Also, bestbbs lovers, notice the team listing on the about page :-)

Well ... the About page still says that the website is hosted by the old host ;-)

I can only imagine how much work this took to get back up. Oh how I missed WebmasterWorld today - needed to look up some stuff about setting DNS TTL and could not find what I wanted anywhere else. Soooo glad you are back. Thanks Brett!

Wellcome back.
Server is really faster.

We all need to make buckups ( backups :) ) of our sites.
I need to put remark somewhere.

Is it just me or does the affiliate forum have allot of non-affiliate related questions (like html etc)

Sure looks like it - they are adjacent in the numbering (forum20 / 21).

20 is an almost exact duplicate of 21.

Did I see Brett mention somewhere this is all written in Perl?

No wonder it took so long to recover ... <ducks>

I'm finding myself checking to see where I'm at... maybe I should do that more often.

Well done Brett and Team. A crisis situation for the site and you all pulled of a very smooth recovery.

Your back Great! I thought with all the negative posts about Google update here, that Google had dropped the hammer on your website.

Remember: "Failure is not falling down, it is not gettnig up again."

I have to add a 'me too' here. I always appreciated it, but now I realise I NEED it! I'm sure a lot of people have felt the same.

Incidentally, if you haven't become a supporter, I would recommend it - you're helping WW and (speaking for myself) it pays for itself easily in the first month.

Welcome back WW!

By Googleguy

Glad to have you back at full-strength.

GG, where did Google get its feedback during the Jagger update with no WW to refer to? ;)

Not unsurprisingly - this could be the biggest member page view day ever.
