This morning's New York Times (search for 'shivering for luxury') has an interesting article on the front page of the Sunday Styles section that reports the temperatures in different stores, and claims that the lower the temperature, the fancier the store.

For example, the 70.3 degree temperature inside Tiffany's is a full 10 degrees below what you would find inside Old Navy.

Based on that criteria, the Park Plaza in New Orleans, site of the recent conference [webmasterworld.com], must be one of the best hotels in the world. Inside the guest rooms, it felt like a meat locker. The thermostat seemed to be disconnected from reality. The meeting rooms were a bit better, but still...
