Hi guys,

First of all let me tell you that this is the most useful webmasters forum in the world. And I’ve lurked in some of them, but webmaster world is unique through its rich content and the great guys that are around.
Some times I wonder why are the high rollers hanging around in here, why won’t they just spent the day by the pool :-D.

Anyway, a few questions/suggestions on the forum functionality:
- Is there a way to flag a thread at a specific post? The idea is to get fast at the last post you read on a specific thread.
- Is there a way to flag a member so that you can see his latest posts somewhere in your profile?

This last feature would be useful to track the experience that the “big” members share.

But don’t get me wrong even without these features webmasterworld is still great and I’d still read it several times a day.

Thanks

Nope
>flag a specific member
Nope, but checking the members profile page will show you the threads where he or she recently posted.

Yes, I'm using the posts in user's profile - good feature.

I wanted a way to keep a list of members in my profile and have a link to their profile to see their latest posts. Just discovered the address book. Unfurtunately it doesn't have a link to the member's profile - that would be the only thing needed I guess.

It's good to flag guys like rfung and Michael Anthony and the others I find all the time.

These issues can be overcome by using local/in browser links, but this cann't be used when accessing webmasterworld from different locations. I guess del.icio.us would do it ;-)

You might take a shot at Control Panel > System Prefs > Custom Code.

You can plop in html to appear at the top or bottom of your page. The 500 character limit should be enough for links to a half dozen or so members' profiles.

And by the way, welcome to WW.

Thanks, jimbeetle. Custom HTML at the top and at the bottom allow high flexibility.

Thanks again

Hey, I just found the fix under my nose: the address book has an URL field for every entry.. how about just entering the member's profile URL in there :D

Wasn't quit satisfied with editing HTML for a simple bookmark...

Hey there - welcome to WebmasterWorld and thanks for the nice words.

One other thing you can do is leave yourself a note [webmasterworld.com]. This is a little-known feature here that lets you keep info - either in individual entries, or you can keep a running edit of one note. Just a thought, if you want to keep URLs flagged or bookmarked in some way.

Hi guys and gals and thanks for the worm welcome.

Sorry, lawman, but not being a native speaker, understanding "check out Foo" is beyond me...

And I thought I knew what foo means. Dictionary.com didn't shed any light on the phrase either..

Well I never - still finding new features after all this time, cheers Hawkgirl!
