Just noticed a post which i edited had the standard boilerplate added to the bottom:

[edited by: whoisgregg at 3:33 am (utc) on Jan. 28, 2005]

Is this now automatic on all posts? Can I stop doing my lazy "<edited by uhhh me, like just now />" type tags and rely on the system to do it for me?

If so, thanks for adding this feature!

If not, why did it happen this one time?

I THINK this shows normally when you reconnect from a different IP. At least that's when I seem to see it. I tend to add the [Edit/reason therefor] as a courtesy more than anything.

Of course, it's entirely possible that I'm so far out in left field that I will NEVER figure out who's on first....

I like to do this as well, which was why I was excited about the system doing it for me that time.

As for IP changes, I don't think I would have triggered anything like that during the course of that post. It was literally a "post, see post, click edit" all within 20 seconds or so...

Edit accreditations appear after someone has replied to your post. As long as you edit before someone replies to you, no edit trail is left.

Also, any edit by a moderator is automatically given an edit tag, and we're generally required to fill out a reason.

Makes sense, someone had posted a second after me. Thanks Jake. :)

Thanks Jake. I wondered why sometimes the tag would show up and sometimes not.

Since it's automatic after someone has posted after you, could there be a field added within the post edit screen for us to add an edit reason? That'd be nice!
