Getting to Know People Here

For the longest time, I posted messages (since 2001), but rarely took the opportunity to PM people, and make friends. But lately I have had people approach me, and I have cultivated business relationships, and also made a couple of good friends.

What has been your experience here at WebmasterWorld?
And how has WebmasterWorld helped you to make friends/connections?

Some of my best friends have come as a result of this place. I encourage all members, new and old, to make friends here. It's been extremely rewarding, both personally and professionally.

I have been to about 1.05 Pubcons and that has made a big difference to my interactions with some members. In reality it is not Pubcon per se, but simply meeting some members in their home towns or by talking to others through Skype or the old telephone.

Main value has been the friendship, occasional business leads, and an instant community of people you can ping for an opinion. This would be difficult to do if you have never met the other person, or certainly not with the same depth.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people out there are doing this stuff for a mainline living. Some of the best friends I have come from meeting folks here (duh, met my wife... got a moderator out of the deal too ;-) lol.
