Internet access during pubcon ...

Does the hilton have wired or wireless access?

I need to know if there is any internet access, either wired or wifi available at the Hilton, in and out of the rooms.

Can someone who has stayed their recently verify?

Don't want to lug my notebook half way across the planet if I cant connect.

Have you checked the Hilton's website for info? I have family in Vegas so don't use the hotels....

It says "high speed internet connections" and the next line says "TVs with Wireless access".

Unfortunately, even the clarion in orlando claimed they had internet access and it err ... just did not work out.

Would rather hear from someone who has stayed there.

Oh, y'know, even if the Hilton can't provide the access you're looking for, there's a Starbucks on every corner, and a TA south of town, a Pilot north. They ALL have wifi hotspots....

I heard like 95% of the Hiltons in the US have high speed access.

Every single Hilton I've stayed at this year (approx. 28), US and abroad, had high speed.

It's a pretty safe bet. If you want to be really sure, call the hotel.

It is $10 a day per laptop for internet access at the Hilton. Two laptops in a room would be $20 a day.

what hotels are best to go? WW conference page says Hilton, I am sure it should be all booked. Can anybody help me with the best one near the Convention Center and prices and about Internet Connectivity....!

If it is wired, some hotels don't have it in every room. If it is WIFI, the signal is only good in certain areas. You need to check with the hotel directly.

Verizon has a very impressive wireless solution. You get great speeds (for wireless) in 10 cities across the U.S., including Las Vegas. I've been trying it out here in Tampa the last few weeks and I am very happy.

It's something like $150 for the card and $80 per month for unlimited access. If you live or travel to one of the 10 cities where they have rolled it out (Washington, San Diego, Las Vegas, New York, Philadelphia, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Austin, Kansas City, Baltimore, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Milwaukee) I'd definitely give it a try. It will be very cool to sit at a presentation (or at the bar) at Pub Con with your laptop fired up and connected.

One of the big wifi providers is listed as providing access in the conference centre. I think they are $20-30 for service on a monthly basis.

I use Verizon's wireless and if you're near a cell site with their EVDO overlay, the speeds are blazing fast for wireless. I get 300-600k in and around my office. Hope Verizon started their build out in Vegas with the Strip.

I'll be at Circus Circus and they claim to have internet access in the rooms, but don't specify details. I'll be carrying my iBook so I hope I'm covered, but I'm not ready for wireless connections.

Any more suggestions/tips? Has anyone stayed here before?

Be especially careful accessing webmasterworld via wifi -- your cookie contains your password essentially in the clear (well, rot13ed).

yes, WebmasterWorld.com doesnt offer SSL for some reason... sothere is no choice but to expose your password.

I guess it hasn't been an issue yet for management.
