Where do old supporters forum post go?

do they just disappear?

I have seen several times that old supporters forum posts go away.. where do they go? are they included in main forums or are they just deleted?

e.g. in this thread [webmasterworld.com...] 2_much referrs one of Brett's post:
[webmasterworld.com...]

and this link 1647.htm is not a working link.

I think he's referring to the fact that there was some restructuring of forum names in the past (I think) and that urls of older posts now had forum10003 instead of forum3. As a result there may still be older posts out there with bad internal links. The first link above does work (take out the comma), but the second link, referenced in that thread, gives a 404 for both forum10003 and forum3.
