This might not mean anything and it is not that big of a deal, but I noticed on a thread in the google forum that I am heavily involved with, it seems that my number of posts are not being updated. Is there a limit to the number of posts that trip the counter on any given thread? I ahve probably about 20 posts on this thread, but the number of posts counter stays the same.

When I post in other threads, the counter works normally.

Just wondering and thanks for the reply!

The Google forum is one of the forums in which posts are not added to the post count. Others include this forum, Foo, and the Supporters forum. There may be others...

So when did this happen. They used to count. And it seems it is just a particular thread, not the whole forum. I got a post to count in another thread...

Just curious.

Careful! Y'all keep worrying about post counts and Brett'll just shut 'em off again just to mess with ya. ;)

Can you let me know the level of member? How many post for each level?

ya, on OpEd posts, we can turn off post counting when it becomes obvious that the thread is a tit-for-tat stuff.

Start taking a peek at post counts & member levels and your powers of observation will answer your own question in no time.

Besides, as MacGuru said in a similar thread [webmasterworld.com] about six months ago: "I believe it's an old tradition. WebmasterWorld was born in a SEO context. Postcount is just another algo to crack."

Hey Hawkgirl...
"I believe it's an old tradition. WebmasterWorld was born in a SEO context. Postcount is just another algo to crack."

I like that!
