I am a new member, and just found the site today..
after a few days of not being able to fix my own problem, I had to find help.
I found the net in the early-mid 90s and started a web site at Geo cities, back then we just copied HTML codes, and learning on the way, (this was before this was a no-no) and before Java hit the big time.
as jave was getting big, I dumped my site, just because I was tired of it and did not want to learn how to use Java. I never looked back.
Until this spring, when myself and some of my Online friend's where tired of the message board we found. we went out on our own to find one.
This we did. But I was the only one in the group who know a "little bit" about web sites... so I was giving the task of finding us a new home.
I found us a forum, and fixed it up... But we had two problem,
1.) we could not be listed in at Google, etc. So I did some reading, and our tags where not being used.
2.)No new users
So off I go to build us a web site to pull in users
and here I am today. :)
My site is made from a "Bought Template", and I am expanding the site, (I have read that is what google likes)the main reason for the site is a port to the Forum. The more I read, the more I have work to do, but it is now at a point I cannot do it without help.
Since I have a low span(I can't read a lot of content at once, esp if I don't' understand it) I found you all for the fill in. (grin)
Now we do not have a domain. (because of money we don't plan on selling anything)
right now we are using a "free host" but this has it draw backs. yuck!
I hope that I will learn what is needed to run a site and all about Domain and things I should know about before jumping in with my eyes closed.
I never thought I would be doing this again.
but I find I am, and very much behind on many things, I hope I will learn a lot here..
Thank you for letting me be a part of the board..
I look forward to speaking with all of you. :)
Thanks,
Dustbunny

You will learn tons here. I recommend you start with this post [webmasterworld.com] to learn your way around. Then sit back and read, read, read!
After a few weeks, when you're feeling totally saturated, consider marking your calender for November 16-18 and attending the World of Search Conference [webmasterworld.com], where you'll have a chance to meet everyone in person and learn, learn, learn!
