Where to start?

I need some tips...some practical WmW tips...
so for the past few months I've tried to at least GLIMPSE at every post made on every given day, by using the recent posts feature...and until this week I'd suceeded...
However, I've been sick for about 5 days and haven't been able to even log on...and now that I'm finally back I barely know where to start...

Do people have little tricks they use? My initial thought was to simply find the last post I read (last Friday) and start making my way forward....That's a LOT though...Of course, it'll be worth it ;)

Any ideas?? You know where I'll be for the next several hours :)

I goto recent posts, open >next>, new browser window every time, until I reach the discussion that didn't update since last visit. Then start reading from the oldest, same time picking some from the bottom of 1st recent posts window, so they don't roll out of sight.
This way at least I see all Subjects.
Any other tips?

2_much, I can't imagine not even being able to log on for almost a week. I stop to turn the computer on to start email on my way to the coffee pot in the morning. I just looked, and there are 15 pages worth of recent posts, dating back to Jan. 30th. I didn't realize there were so many, because I generally keep up.

What I would do is go through and catch up one forum at a time instead of all consecutively. I think that would be the more focused way.

Occasionally I dig into one all the way back anyway - if there's a way to remember everything I sure haven't figured it out yet. Besides, something I glossed over a couple of months ago might be significant to me now and I'll have forgotten all about it.

Like rz, I use recent posts -except I use it exclusively. (I literally go for days without seeing the forum index pages.)

On posts that are active, in order to determine a starting point, I pick one I know I've read and go in to see if there's something new. I keep paging back until I find everything as I remembered.

I feel your pain 2_much. I am very open to suggestions on how I could be of programmed assistance. Littleman suggested a link at the bottom of every post "next post" to go to the next article. The question is more complex than first appears - very difficult to do from a program standpoint given the current setup. It would require one pointer for every post and/or msg on the system (43000 currently).

You do know down in the lower right of the active list there are the 12345... to go to the next page of posts right? So you can slowly dig back through them. I am doing some more work on the active list in the near future - I'm about half done with an update to it.
