How much is a cab ride?

As I decided to go to London to attend both conferences, it was too late to get a room in the Novotel West London hotel where most of the SEO people are. So I took a room at the Thistle Islington, close to the PubConf.

Because I think the nights will be long in the Novotel, I will have to go by cab back to my hotel. So, has anyone any experiences how much a cab ride from Hammersmith (SES) to Kings Cross (my hotel/PubConf) is? Do the cabs accept credit cards (esp. VISA)?

From what I remember some taxis accept credit cards but not all (correct me if I'm wrong anyone). I think you can book from specific cab firms that take cards.

However, we are also staying at the Thistle and will probably be heading to the Novotel during the evening so there is always the possibility of sharing a cab, it can't be that much!
