Is it possible for members to post a url of a site they have finished so other members can give some feedback?

everyone i speak to says yeah it looks cool but thats not really constructive and i dont believe them

id imagine people here would be able to give some serious and harsh feedback, which is needed before showing to a client ...

?

No, this site does not allow site critiques as per the TOS.

21. We do not allow review my site posts. It is impossible to deduce which posts are honest requests and which are promotional.

The best reviews will come from your user community. Does it work for them? If it does, then this is obviously fine.

If it doesn't, find out what the specifics are, then post a message on Webmaster World to ask "how do I deal with problem x?". Doing it this way will be useful, not just for yourself, but also for others who have the same problem.

Stef, the question has come up periodically over the years; occasionally a member will ask.

Site reviews can serve a purpose, depending on the particular audience. The first community I was part of provided free member websites and I hosted a beginners message board where we did advise on individual sites. But that's exactly what it was, and it remained that way - a beginners board that acted as instruction and support for the websites, which ran banner ads. The company was based on an ad revenue model.

We're not advertising driven here at WebmasterWorld, we're based on a membership model and have an entirely different demographic composition and mission:

News and Discussion for the Independent Web Professional

If you look through the forums you'll see fairly advanced topics related to web development, technical issues, programming, internet marketing and search engine optimization. We're primarily an informational and educational resource with a strong emphasis on proactive self-development and "how-to" as well as discussion of relevant industry news and the "business of doing business."

We've got top industry professionals among our numbers, as well as people from all experience levels and ranges of skills. We've had newbs come in green and after spending some time with us, because of the supportive and constructive environment, they've gone on to literally become "independent web professionals" with success beyond what they might have ever imagined was possible.

Site reviews and "helping with homework" could only serve to dilute that focus. My personal opinion is that it could not have been possible for any non-profit foundation or even any educational institution to have provided as much of a meaningful public service for the webmaster community on a global level over the years as WebmasterWorld has, on a consistent basis.

I believe that's been achieved because of the steadfast adherance to workable underlying principles and staying true to the vision and goals.

That's how I personally see it. In short, "if it ain't broke, why fix it." ;)
