What is the point of these Webmaster world ranks? Is it a motivational tool to increase posts?

Very curious me is

What, me worry? I've been here since 2001. Obviously I'm not concerned about post count. :)

Post count really doesn't matter...
Except for one thing -- I like to see when someone is a brand new member (with just one or a few posts)... That way I can welcome them to WebmasterWorld.
Other than that -- who cares? :) Certain posts (depending on forum) don't count anyway...

It's a bit like PageRank at Google: It is one of 100+ factors to decide which level of respect members show each other. :)

I believe it's an old tradition. WebmasterWorld was born in a SEO context. Postcount is just another algo to crack.

If Foo posts counted, lawman would be well above 7 K.

I visit WebmasterWorld since 2001, and started participating in the beginning of 2002.
Two and a half years later I only have 200 posts. Thatīs because it doesnīt matter to me. A lot of people can just write posts like:

"great!"
"what?"
"me too!"

And postcount will grow very fast, but I only write when I have something to share.
