There are a lot of our heavy-weights who post back there, and there's a noticeable absence of the noise factor. There's no whining, so consequently it's far easier to follow along and concentrate on analysis; the discussions tend to hone in and get more tightly focused.
Is there a "two speed" google knowledge?
Not long ago, there was a wonderful list of all of the factors we could think of that Google looks at for ranking, started by ciml.
Last week, there were posts about sandboxing. And the changes Google's undergoing.
So, yes, I think there is a better knowledge of Google present in the backroom.
I'm always more inclined to put a thoughtful post in the backroom, knowing it will usually get more thoughtful responses.

Yeah, it's not thta I am more inclined to share thoughts with supporters as much as certain topics just won't get the same responses out here. Particularly so for Google, where there are so many wild opinions, emotional rants, and whining going on in forum3
