Site error today

There was a significant site error this morning that caused all new posts for about an hour to be 404. Please let me know in stickymail if you see any "Residual" effects.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I have noticed that the Active List (active.htm) is bringing up Unanswered Messages instead, going back to January 16th.

The system has set the sort order to message count -> direction forward.

If I change to date (descending) my normal sort, the system ignores and displays date (ascending).

Only way I can get to most recent messages is to set display count to 100, and then go to last page.

although it really sucks I have to say that the error makes me feel good.

now I know I'm not the only one who gets bizarre errors that just appear on my sites!

Not too sure if what's happening today is an "error". Might just be Brett's way of hinting to clean up some of the unanswered messages.

Yesterdays error is unrelated to todays intentional default sort on the active list.

We had nearly 100 orphans this year and we could use some help cleaning them up ;-)

Saw a newish user's post (sure I have seen more than one post by him) with a "has never posted" below his name.

I don't know if this is related , but - I posted a message in the Google News forum, and my post count didn't increase. Is this new, that the Google News forum posts are not counted or was it disabled not to count posts only in that thread? (the thread was about orkut)

Lengthy foo like threads are sometimes blocked for the post count, sid (so are the update threads ... until they get zapped completely, lol). Don't worry, i'm still waiting for my 1,000 post flowers. :)

None of the foo threads count - it's such a chit chat forum that it just isn't fair to count those.

Bascially, when people ask about it, they are watching their count way too close.

Occasionally, we also turn off the showing of the count completely.
