Hey,

Love the site design, very simple and easy to use.

What sort of traffic does this site recieve?

What kind of servers are running this puppy ( front end/ back end) etc? mysql?

I hope it doesn't sound nosey, its just a geek thing I guess.

I know that most people who buy forum software, DEMAND smilies etc, I find that it just clutters up the thread and its nice to see a forum w/o smilies.

do you guys agree? I guess people develop software according to what the buyer demands, and seeing as vBulletin is so popular, people want smilies!

photon,

that link only talks about # of posts, i want some techie info like servers, page views, uniques.

oh well, most sites usually have that in their 'about' section...which I love to read.

:) ;) :( :o

We have a small selection of smileys, but you need to go into the system preferences in your control panel to enable them. I think it defaults to having the smileys turned off.

The link actually also tells about page views.

I think that uniques is a trade secret. (But I also thought that page views were.)

If you want to know about servers you might click on the link to the hosting company at the bottom of each page.

I see that you repeat the title of this thread in the subtitle. I have seen people do that now and then and I have always been completely unable to understand why. Perhaps you could explain me the advantages of doing this?

I never noticed that actually. That is the meta tag that I sometimes repeat when starting a new thread.

I guess I shouldn't be doing that...

Ok so he told us how many pages views the site has rec. over the past 4 years:

500,000,000 (yes million) page views for our 4 year history.

Doing a little math, that works out to around 350 000 page views a DAY. And that figure is just breaking down total page views / 4 * 365 (=1460 days).

500 000 000 page views / 1460 days = 342 465
The actual figure is much higher since we can assume the site is much more popular now than it was 2-4 years ago. I would say its between 500K and 1 millon. Yikes!

Nice work!

as The Guvnor would say:

"Ask a webmaster anything, but dont ask him about how many uniques he/she gets"
