How do the supporters benefit from the private forum versus the public? Are tips, techniques, and etc discussed on the other side? I'm interested in taking that step if there is some additional value.

Any insight's appreciated.

You can get a good idea from the samplings that are continuously posted on the front page. I'm a supporter, but the additional value to me comes from both the "free" and paid parts of the forum, that's why I pay.

Well I've lingered on the forum for about a week. I'm still getting into the SEM realm. Would you guys suggest any reading? It's hard putting the peices together with so many sources... Thanks!

It isn't like we give away the farm on the other side, but more like you are with the vendors at the farmer's market before it opens rather than just in the farmer's market.

It is better than any book or anything else you can pay o learn about the Internet.

If I had to recommend people do anything to be successful on the Internet - it is:

1) Go to webmasterworld.com

2) Come to PubCon

3) Join the Supporter's form

That might seem out of order - and you shouold do all three if you can, but pubcon is the best thing that ever happened to me as far as the Internet goes (besides google itself).

To be honest - I can't really say the same will happen to you. If you visit webmasterworld every day or so - I would say join without hesitation.

I got much more out of the supporters form after I met people at pubcon - it is easier to put a name with a face that way.

If you OR ANYONE ELSE - EVER FEELS OUT OF PLACE OR LIKE THEY DON'T BELONG - you are almost certainly wrong.

If you feel like you aren't getting anywhere - and you make the step of coming to pubcon without knowing anyone - let me know. I will be happy to meet with you or anyone else and introduce you to other people I know.

I had been to other conventions - and felt like they were a waste of time -- but that I SHOULD go.

This is different - I WANT to go and can't wait to go again.

I'm not a pro by any definition, but I still paid my dues because clearly there's value in WW.

The "free web" only goes so far and always at someone else's expense. Free websites tend to collapse under the weight of their "free" success. Free is also the defining word in freeloader. One characteristic of adulthood, in my view, is when you stop living off of someone else's dime - like your mom's or Brett's dime.

I tend to be a troublemaker of sorts in the members forum, bringing up legal issues related to tactics that are employed in the SEO/SEM realm. (Ssshhhh - don't tell anyone - I'm a lawyer.) So, for your contribution you also get a healthy dose of unsolicted (some would argue unwelcome) legal analysis.

Now, how much would it cost you to get a reasoned legal opinion on anything about web practices from a lawyer with 20+ years experience who's also a bit web savvy?

I'm not an SEO. I joined the Supporter Forums because I found some really useful info from Tabke and figured some sort of contribution was in order.

I'm joining as soon as i get that adsense cheque (UK sp),and it's cleared - I launched a site about 3 months ago in a fairly competitive market, i'm now getting a good number of referrals a day, and a few thousand page views a month....and hopefully that adsense cheque. The only reason: because of the tips and advice found here.

If I get more knowledge to promote my sites from the paid forum great, if not, I'm happy to provide some sort of contribution for the information I've found here. As a bit of an aside, I guess the pricing is very fair considering how much you can earn with the information from this forum, and the paid, forum... :)

Yes, and currently it appears to be a good price point. It is a stretch for some, and others it wouldn't even be pocket change. We have some who have subscribed their entire office and others that work hard to meet the six month subscription.

I will admit, we are considering a modest price increase very soon.
