Cloaking cracks a 1000 posts

Congrats to the Webmaster World Members on the cloaking forum rolling over 1000 posts. When the idea of a Cloaking forum first came up, everone said there was no way we could make it work. We heard it all from, there weren't enough cloaking users, it was full of spammers, or it would be too controversial.

Through some dry spells and controversy you folks have supported that forum. Thank you, as I think it is one of our most valuable community resources for anyone involved in SEO and has helped Webmaster World earn it's stripes.

Brett All I can say is that I have learned alot from that forum and have come to realize that not everyone that cloaks is a spammer.

There has been some great posts in that forum and it has allowed a lot of us to interact with the Engines them selves. I know it will continue to be a success.

I've enjoyed reading in the cloaking forum. It's good to have the foundational basis for if and when it's time to implement. For something that seemed so complicated at first, doing the reading in that forum has been so helpful -it's all so clear and to the point.

I think this has been by far the greatest benefit of the forum. The amount of knowledge that has been contributed by those who thrive on the minutica involved with cloaking has helped improve everyone's overall understanding of spider behavior and the SEO process in general.

It is only through the help and contribution you have all made to the board in general and that forum in particular that it has worked. The high standard set by all of you and by the members of this board has created an atmosphere that has allowed that forum to work.

Though I don't cloak, Air's forum has always impressed me. When I was lurking, I remember coming across a thread that went on for days with exchanges of what appeared to be "numeric secret code." I figured that if you guys could keep track of all those spiders, you'd probably be able to point me in the right direction on a few other questions I had -as it turns out, I was right. Congrats, Air!

A very informative forum which explains in great detail what is involved without all the anti-cloaking hysteria that we had formerly heard about. Keep up the good work Air and members.

Just a quick story:

What seems a long, long time ago me and Air played a little game, I tried to view his cloaked pages and he tried to catch me doing so. Now be aware that the first time I tried I didn't tell him, but lo and behold within minutes I received an email "this is you!". LOL

This went on for some time, with no success on my part, until I finally admitted defeat and threw the towel in. Instead of crowing over his victory he sent me a riddle to solve, if I solved the riddle and changed my UA to the answer then I could view the pages. I'm not sure if I ever thanked him for taking the time to help me learn, so Air, Thank You!
