Member Titles?

Ok, on your user profile I have seen new user, junior member, ect... Is this "Title" go by the number of posts? or time you have been here?

Not sure of the figures, Brett would have to tell you that but I'm pretty sure 'senior member' is 600+ as I just saw someone pass that mark recently ;)

50+ - Junior Member
150+ - Senior Member
300+ - Preffered Member (I think)
600+ - Full Member (As you say)

I don't know if the 300+ is currect, but I do know that the 1st one and 2nd one is.

Personally i don't really feel like a senior citizen although my post count says so - after all i've been here for about four months only.

I think perhaps a grouping by membership length in stead would be more appropriate with respect to the "seniority". There are quite a few people that have been here for longer than me and posted less (not even mentioning all the lurkers). Anyway, date joined is also shown on the left column.

Being "verbose" as me does not need to imply that you know a lot, but as a post is a contribution to the forum, it's probably a good measure after all.

The rules appear to have changed earlier this year. I was a full member when I reached 100 posts, but dropped back to junior member after a few months.

Let me see now... With what I had before plus this post... Nearly back to where I was. :)

Brett tweaks the numbers now and then. And here and there around in the forums there are threads that do not count.

I believe that some of the titles are not just titles but actually mean that you gain certain privileges. I would guess that it is technically possible to give some of those privileges to people with lower ranks. And to take them away from people with higher ranks.

There is good sense in having a system to let members slowly and automatically gain some privileges while still giving the admins the possibility of individual tweaks. It's a question of trust. WebmasterWorld is a VERY great temptation for spammers of different kinds.

hm... Looks like it has changed, I remembered when I had 49 posts, I was a Newbie guy and when I reached 50, I was transformed into a Junior member!

Who cares anyway, its all about the quality of your posts, never the quantity!

Think before you post, think if this this is an appropriate message, think if this is post gonna do any good to any of the WebmasterWorld members, check spelling mistakes... Well, thats what I do, After I write it, I preview it, if I find a spelling mistake, I correct it then go to Preview again and continue reading , and after I post it, I see if that message I posted fits correctly with other messages in the forum, Now If you've done all of this, it really depends on what sort of message you've posted.

If everybody on WebmasterWorld start putting toughts in their posts, I bet you every Webmaster on the net is gonna enter the Webmaster World!

I don't see that. The thread may have gone a touch off topic, but I'm sure the "quality" part wasn't directed at you. Stick around, I'm sure you will find all kinds of examples of great community at WebmasterWorld. :)

of course the quality part wasn't directed at a specific member, it was just a post to encourage all WebmasterWorld members to put thoughts in their post ;) and make WebmasterWorld a friendly community. By saying that, I don't mean that its not a friendly community currently, I just ment to make it better so everybody gets your point and replies a good message to it.
