Recent change to login policy?

Feel like I'm constantly logging in

When I first joined WW, I almost never had to log in; the cookie was set on my machine and was apparently read without any issues. When I got a cable modem earlier this year, I found I had to log in more frequently, but thought this a reasonable spam control measure.

In the last two weeks, however, I feel like I am constantly re-verifying my credentials, not just at the beginning of the day or when I first try to reply, but randomly several times during the day, sometimes minutes apart. Sometimes, I will be reading a thread or looking at recent posts, and when I click to the next page, the system will "lose" me.

Neither my browser settings (Moz 1.3 or IE 6 on Win2K, NS 7.1 on Win98) nor methods of connecting to the Internet (AT&T T1 via non-cached proxy or cable modem) have changed during that time.

Any ideas?

The only thing that really comes to mind is that the 404 page is now a login page.

Is it when you originally come to the site or randomly while you are surfing?

Hummm, I think that's a little strange. I never have to log back in on any of the three machines I use to access WebmasterWorld. One's on DSL, one's on dialup, the other is on WiFi (DSL). You may have something wrong with your cookies, I've seen other people elimate their WebmasterWorld problems by deleting their cookies.

Just a thought.

<added>Of course, if this happens on many browsers, then it's probably not your cookies</added>
