Here I got trace route results. Looks interesting.

Thank goodness.

I thought perhaps Brett had banned me by ip [webmasterworld.com] for something I said in the dmoz thread.

He can, and he would, and he might- if I don't watch my P's and Q's.

You full members, though, better watch your A-Z's. ;)

Anyway, I'm really really glad webmasterworld is back up. It was like when the electricity goes down and you rediscover conversation with the people who are physically around you.

Seems like it was an outage that affected all of Westhost. Their site and several of mine were down as well.

Yeah...it has been acting a bit slow for me all day today..noticed the use of an external image server?

I also thought my ip may have been banned from excessive use as well.

Westhost just started a new special and they have been migrating sites over a new control panel.

They have some incredible deals.

BTW, I can confirm my sites were down for about an hour as well.

I thought they used external images for a while...

It's interesting. I think external images would bring more traffic.

Since most of us live on this forum, all the images are most likely to be cached. And there are only few of them anyways. But this makes HTML file bigger by writing full path.

This maybe would make sence for bigger images, but for repeating icons such as: bullets, edit button and such, I think it's better to host it localy... IMO!

Have no stats to base it on, just a thought :)

Seems they not just switched control panel, but their routing is different too. Look at the IPs. They change at hop #8.

Um, don't tell such fictions. Latest news we had in our local radio news was that we at least will have one more week enough electricity to keep the city where i live running. Imagine - world's #3 largest economy gets partly out of electricity because of the heat - rivers are so dry that the power stations don't have enough cooling water to keep running their generators. Go figure ... will take some nice holidays then next week (and my website's visitors as well i fear) ... :/
