Hi,

I've been noticing of late that around a third or more of the headlined posts have been in the Website Supporters Forum. Just for the record I'd like to state my reason for not subscribing to WebmasterWorld. I don't currently subscribe because I see don't see my position as being stable enough to support it.

However, I'd like to know what the charter of that group is. From looking at the headlined posts I can't see any clear direction. Seems to be one about a piece of news that could fit best in AskJeeves/Teoma, one which would go in Webmaster General, and one which would appear to fit well with Keyword Discussion...

So, could the charter be clarified, or could someone point m to where the charter is for that group. (And readable to a cheap tight-arse like myslelf...)

Im pretty much in the same position as you and have read a few topics on this (as well as noticing what you pointed out about the headlines).

As far as I have been able to make out, the forum is slightly more open than the public forums, with members more openly sharing tips and strategies, etc. From what ive read, it basically seems to be a bit more "juicy". ;)

Personally I only run free information sites and work full time on a pretty crappy wage, so food, rent and bills take priority over subscriptions of any sort. Yeh, Adsense income will add a bonus to that, but not much.

It does slightly annoy me when i click on a headline and get the "private forum" page! :) But, to be honest Im a recent posts junky, so dont really pay much attention to headlines anyway! ;)

It would be nice not to be faced with, "Here are the threads you dont earn enough to read" everytime i came to the site, but Im pretty sure if I ran a similar feature on my sites, I would do it in the same way. :)

lol this has happened to me a few times as well, although like M_G I tend to stick to the recent posts page occasionally I go to the home page and see some interesting topics which when clicked take me to the log-in screen - private forums.

I would not mind subscribing but only when Amex is acccepted directly.

I don't think they appear in recent posts, it just becomes 2nd nature after a while to hit recent posts, and then once I'm done there head directly into the forum to check for new posts.

I'll leave the copying of the charter to the mods. You're right, some topics are posted there that really belong out here and that point is made from time to time.

I signed up (for six months) when money was tight and I will renew for a year when the time comes. I am not a pure SEO so I don't get the same value as do others and sometimes I may not recognise a gem that is posted because it does not apply to my situation. Equally, I sometimes don't remember if I pick up a gem in that forum, out here or on another site. :)

To get optimum value from WW, IMO, you must participate at the Pubcons, and also in these forums. I haven't been to a Pubcon owing to my remoteness but I can see the chemistry between Pubcon veterans that is missing with others. I don't try to put a ROI on my WW subscription. It is worth the money.
