How did you find WebmasterWorld?

Just thought it would be interesting to see how everyone found this place. ;)

I actually found it by searching for something internet related on Google, and it brought up a WW thread (nice SEO!) which answered my question, and out of curiosity, I checked out the main page.

Then I went, "hmm, cool site... I'll add it to my favorites." Then I started viewing almost on a daily basis, and finally registered, and now am somewhat of a regular poster here. :)

Interesting how things work out. :D

Same for me, a search leading to a thread. Been here ever since. Sort of like an addict.

In my case, I searched for several things over a period of time and began to realize that I should become a WW student.

Searching for ad serving software. Then over about a week or so found that whenever I searched G for something web tech related, well, guess where I wound up?

Found it when it was searchengineworld. Too far back to remember exactly how I came across it.

It was Google and I can't remember what I was looking for, but it was probably "How to make scrolling text" ;)

Doing some search on Google related to a referer in my log file led me here.

Frustration with the only other e-commerce forum I had found (not that I'd done much looking - don't remember how I stumbled in there) as I realised they really were the blind leading the blind and having a good time whining about it, and that the few 'pros' (term used very loosely) frequenting the place were there purely to fish for work.

Anyways, searched on google, probably for something like "e-commerce forum".. and bam, top of the list. Met all my requirements and then some. :)

I was using the Google Groups support forum, only one I knew about at the time :( It was really bad, even a total newbie could tell.

Fortunately ciml, for some obscure reason, posted there, and one of his posts had a reference to WebmasterWorld. I still have the Google Groups bookmarked, but have not been there in a long time.

Poster on another board we've all been to linked to a thread here. It was a suprisingly intelligent post, so I popped over, looked around, and decided I liked what I saw.

Appears most people find this place from a thread...

Man I wish my forum was search engine friendly!

I honestly can't remember. Must've been mentioned in a thread on another board.

All I can say is, I wish I'd found it A LOT sooner.

It was a couple of month ago I was waiting for the google update and it passed me by.
I decided to go on google and type 'google update' and bingo the 'google update history' page came up.

WOW :o

I haven't been able to leave since - it's part of my daily routine to come and chech the threads.

And like AAnnAArchy said - I wish I also found it sooner :)

A little differntly. Searched for "Pagearnk" on google and went to a "Pagerank Explained" site which had a link to this site. Came here and immediately filled the registration form. Unfortunately in my email I clicked the first link which was for Supporters Forum and asked for money. So I lurked for quite some time before realised I was supposed to click on the second link. Never looked back and am addicted out here :)

I was impatient because my site had only a holding page listed in Google. I searched (google) an Google broken, and there was webmaster World.

Much like olwen. Searched Google for "dropped from Google" (familiar?) and found a relevant thread off these forums.

I was abducted by aliens from the planet Tabke.

They inserted this probe into the back of my head which downloaded a whole load of information direct into my brain.

Then they told me that they were being paid by Bill G*tes to ensure that msn becomes a major player in the search engine marketplace.

To achieve this they sent me back in time, I created the fictional character "Brett Tabke" (like that was a real name? You fools!).

With the help of the aliens I created this website and filled it fictional posts in a variety of names (yes, I am rxdfm1 as well).

The aliens really need to usurp google from the top spot to effect Mr Gates wishes and, to this end, I now sit here using this name and the others to post where I can to try and distort the picture and cause as much spam as possible in google.

I often use the rxdfm1 and GoogleGuy names in a "good cop/bad cop" routine.

another forum kept referring to "WW" and I was driven mad with curiosity, as it seemed that much of the action on any given topic happened first at WW and then propagated to this other forum, which I'd only found through a newsletter I'd signed up for after a google search on SEO...
I like the other forum, but this one's much more high-traffic so more stuff happens quicker! It's more fun to see it first in WW and then see the subsequent dissection elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I've become addicted to forums in general and am frittering my life away. Something I'd better work on...
