Hello,

It would be really great if there is a read-only post for the Google updates, where in only moderators can post the updates going on. It gets really difficult to read extremeley long update threads, especially if you just want to know how far the update has progressed.

I suspect that would be a lot of work for Mods, who are after all, volunteering their time.

I agree though, the update threads are ridiculously long and a nightmare to get any information from - I stopped reading them a few months ago.

IMHO there 2 things you need to know about the update:

1. It's started.
2. It's finished.

All the rest is wild speculation and only a whisper of fact! ;)

I think Woz should do it every update ;)

1. It's started.
2. It's finished.

Thanks, Marketing Guy, for that useful information. I have been trying to learn whether the update has finished, and I went through that long thread and couldn't come up with a conclusion.

If some Mod volunteers to maintain such a thread, it would be a really nice thing. The read-only post shouldn't necessarily be an in-depth post, it could contain only basic progress information.

I'll second that, too. Woz, best of luck ;)

Imaster,

That was just my general attitude toward updates, not info on the current update.

AFAIK it's still settling down (haven't checked up).

Scott

(Maybe Woz can give us a summary of the 30 pages of posts? ;))

Before you start volunteering me for something, I have no idea what you are talking about. Someone care to explain, please ...

A creation of a read only summary of the current update.

Scott :)

Well, I never did one for Dominic. I think you are refering to a thread WebGeurilla put together with someone's help. A case of mistaken identity I believe.

I was just messing I don't think we have done a locked update thread I think the Admins where keeping the update thread clean by clipping all the "Me too" and "wow up one place" stuff.

And Woz I think was referring to WG and Marcia helping GG in the answers threads

Dave

But I do think that Woz would make a great locked update thread work ;)

WebGuerrilla's post was "Understanding Dominic, Part 2"; a compilation of GoogleGuy comments on that update:
[webmasterworld.com...]

Given GG's recent openness, I think that thread can be seen as a pretty good resource.

I remember WebG saying that Albert was doing the collating.
