As planned [webmasterworld.com], Myself and johnser met up for many pints last Thursday, talked about PR, PPC, linking, cloaking, updates and algos. And absolutely NOBODY tried to butt in on our conversation. :)

We plan on doing the same again. Anyone else like to join us?

Proposed date is Thursday May 29th. If you're outside the Pale take Friday off and make a four-day weekend of it. Proposed venue is, again, O'Reilly's @ Tara St Station (easily accessible, easily found).

Signal your intentions here.

Mods,

Apologies, this properly belongs in the Community Center, but I felt it would find more appropriate eyeballs here. Please move it if you wish.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the heads up on this EBear! I would love to meet up with you (even if it is in Dublin and not Cork!), but that date is out for me....

If you're planning to do it at another date, I'll be there! Any other date would suit though!

Cheers!

Bryan from MakeMeTop sounds like a teen-pop idol in my opinion.

How do you know he's not? Almost everyone in Ireland was created by Louis Walsh.

BlobFisk,
We certainly intend to do this at regular intervals. Just felt it was time to float the boat.

Apologies, my mining had you down as Dublin. Must have been the "mad" in your name ;)

taking an early break, and arriving back in Rosslare on the 29th :-(
If it's not yet set in stone, and doesn't inconvenience anybody else, any chance of making in the 31st?
I'll need at least a day to catch up with the new MSN SE, G without hidden text, Y! showing Inktomi results, and O showing ATW results!

Hi All!

Most surprising indeed Ebear that noone tried to hijack our great chat :)

If Google's www-sj server results go live though, I don't expect to be uninterrupted next time round - First mention of "Google" & the regulars will be joining us!

We were thinking of keeping it to a Thursday night so as it wouldn't interfere too much with people's diaries - particularly if it was to become a regular thing. Also its maybe a bit harder to get a decent & central place to meet & talk at on a Saturday night?

I'm fine with that particular Sat Glengara but would prefer if at all possible to keep it to Thursdays after that.

What do people think & whens best for you on that w/end?

What about contacting some of the non Webmasterworld members such as William Cotter@Netaffinity, David Mahon@Clientwell and some of the other usual suspects?
I'm really surprised at how some of the more established Irish operators are nowhere to be seen in the forums, or at least not identifiably so.

Count me in! Maybe we should contact google and invite some of their folks as well :)

Do you have emails for these people Glengara or if you know them maybe you could drop them a line?

BTW, if anyone is lurking, you're very welcome also!

Jimmyk - Thats kinda the direction we were hoping to take this. With Google & Overture possibly in the vicinity, some useful contacts could be made all round.

If we could get something regular going, I think we'd also like to reach the point where some UK-based SEOs might like to join us occasionaly and make a weekend of it in Dublin?

For its size, Ireland seems to be punching well above its weight in the search market which is great for all of us. Long may it last!

Excellent johnser, lets hope google, overture etc. are watching this. Even if they cant make it, it should be enoyable.

It might also be a good thing to post on the Open mailing list. It seems to have a lot of Irish webdevs/SEOs on it. Unfortunately 29/May is out for me and I am also based outside the Pale.

We do an infrequent get together of the Open list people in Cork sometimes - I'll send the word out to them.

Ok, it's looking like we'll have at least half a dozen there, discounting Blobfisk and Glengara.

BlobFisk and jmcc, I haven't been on Open for a while. Will you give them the nod if you haven't done so already? I did contact Bernie G.

I'm hoping some of the lurkers will out themselves. I'm sure the Netaffinity guys and others must hang around from time to time. I remember some girl from some crowd in Townsend street posting here about ayears ag, but I haven't seen her since.

8 o'clock suit everyone? I'll try to check out the proposed venue this weekend for noise levels and confirm it next week.

I'm dissapointed I'm missing it, but it's my companies 5 year anniversary so it's a big night out.

I'll post it on Open, Ebear, is it still O'Reilly's by Tara St Station at 8pm?

I'm planning on collecting my free pint from Rupert at 8PM on Thursday in O'Reillys. Hoping for a Kilkenny or a Smithwick's.

Went checking sound levels on Friday evening. I'd chosen O'Reilly's because an out-of-towner could find it easily, but the noise levels there at the weekend would be like the Google forum of late.

So the venue is:

Upstairs in The Palace Bar, Fleet St. 8 o'clock.

I asked them to keep us a couple of tables. Upstairs is the left hand doorway.

If you don't know where the Palace is, try http:**www.dublinpubscene.com/thepubs/palacebar_map.html

See you then

You may not think that at closing time when everyone's looking for a place to stay :)

Someone pointed out that there is another Palace on Camden St. It's not that one, it's the one on Fleet St as above.

See you later.
