I've been reading some really cool tutorials from papabaer [webmasterworld.com], a WW member that hasn't graced us with his presence for some time now, and I thought I'd share them. You out there, papabaer?

I especially like the first one listed. Enjoy!

Hmmm...bump :)

No feedback? They are really cool if you're heavy into CSS.

Yeah, some very good stuff there.
Also worth checking out Eric Meyers CSS Edge [meyerweb.com]
For some more advanced CSS topics.

I'm wondering whether these forums would benefit from a topic specific link directory? We constantly refer to and discuss information from a select variety of CSS 'authorative' sources.

It took me a while to put together a decent list of useful sites - maybe a 'resources' section for newbies would be useful.

I believe papabaer was in a class by himself. His knowledge of css was unsurpassed.

One of these days I might delve into the complexity of what papabaer's designs were all about. I remember visiting a few sites of his and they were absolutely incredible. Pure css, valid xhtml, the man is ahead of his time.

But I'll tell you what, Nick_W and his compadres do an excellent job in filling his shoes. ;)

Thanks. I'll definitely have to look at all these sites very closely.

Two very true statements and as the man puts it himself....

"This ain't your Mama's CSS!"

Nice find Birdman!

Papabaer most certainly was the resident CSS guru before Nick filled his shoes.

It's a pity that he hasn't been here in a while...

Thanks BlobFisk! They are pearls. I am just now getting ready to employ the "sandbag div" trick to a site I'm workin' on now. That flowing text-wrap is sweet, isn't it?

I'm also pleased to say that I've spoken with him and he promises to rejoin us soon.

<sidenote>Many props to Nick and his crash courses! [webmasterworld.com]</sidenote>

That's fantastic news, there was some worry when he just dropped off - it's good to know that everything is ok and he'll be back soon.

Sorry, but this image scale [bigbaer.com] tutorial is much cooler than the ones above, imo. True accessibility, for graphics!

Welcome back papabaer - glad to see you up and running again.

The one problem is, with both Nick and papabaer on the rampage, there will be no chance for any of the rest of us to answer questions!

Ah well, not a bad sacrifice I suppose! ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome back.. I've missed everyone and look forward to meeting all the new faces.

LOL!

We all get a chance! I said it long ago, I think the members here at Webmaster World comprise the finest Web Development team anywhere. It's always been about give n' take, seasoned to perfection, with a lot of "what ifs."
That what makes this place work... and all of you are what makes it special!

It's nice to be back! Thanks again.

OK, no lie: I was just right now thinking about Papabaer, and how the last I'd heard from him on the boards was, like, a year ago. I looked up his User Profile, and, lo and behold, here he is posting for the first time in a long time!

Call it Webmaster telepathy. Anyway, Papabaer, I'm psyched you're back, and I look forward to your insightful posts and expertise!

HEY PB,
You had many of us worried, myself included. Twas asking Brett every few months or so if he'd heard from you. So glad to have you back!

Now get to work! ;)

Welcome back papabaer!

You know, from the time you left, I was worried about always calling you papabear and not paying the due attention needed ;)

So welcome back, dude, good to see you back at homebase :)
