Hello,

Isn't Europe and the UK the same? If so, why 2 forums?
--If this is a silly question, pardon me and please explain..so I won't be so uneducated.

Also, is there a list of UK/European SE's?. Nothing personal Brett, but the site search is getting harder to use...or am I search-challenged? (Is google a big player?)

TIA,

Webdoc

Webdoc, in terms of web usage the UK has always been closer to the US than mainland Europe. This is mostly a consequence of the common language.
Only now, that mainland Europe is catching up on web usage patterns the difference are getting smaller.

This historic pattern is mirrored by the membership here at WebmasterWorld. From the beginning the board had a strong base in the UK, while mainland euro membership slowly developed.

well The uk and ireland is the only english speaking place in europe. So disgussion about UK se's can be usefull for US site owners wishing to tap into UK markets.

Other EU SE's are going to be in different languages and require translation work within sites if you want listed or to optimize. Hence different categories.

I think.

most USA Internet companies usually make UK their 1st port of call when expanding, this gives us a lot of headstarts over our European cousins.

I think it works really well that way, especially as a lot of UK webmasters do NOT use or understand foreign SEs
