mischief: You have mail

... in my inbox?

OK. Right. Well. I have this horrible feeling that what I'm going to ask is one or all of these Bad Things:

a) in the wrong forum
b) already answered in an easily accessible FAQ
c) been discussed at great length many times very politely to the hordes of newbies
d) just plain stupid

But, I've looked at the available forums, and I can't see a more appropriate "Newbie" type area; I've checked the help files for the relevant parts of the site; I've tried doing a site search but the keyword I really want to use is always ignored; and I blame my parents for my low IQ. So I figure I'll ask anyway.

It says at the top of my screen "mischief: You_have_mail: [inbox: 1 - unread: 0]", but I can't find the mail. My inbox says "0 0 0" for the totals, and I honestly can't see where it might be hiding.

Can someone point me in the right direction please? I guess it's a default "Welcome Newbie" mail, and I'd like to read it again. Also, it sort of irks me that I've got mail that I can't read.

Thanks muchly for any help.

I wish I had that problem. I've reported several times receiving an e-mail notice of StickyMail only to find that I don't have any StickyMail waiting. In general I think the bugs have yet to be worked out of StickyMail and hopefully filing bug reports will eventually get these issues repaired.

My suggestion to you is use the Report Problem link at the bottom of each page. I've never gotten a reply but I like to think my submissions are being received and taken seriously.

Good luck with your issue. :)

Using the problem report works, but it's fine to report here also, in case others are experiencing the same problems.

You've got mail now - see if it's working OK. If it's something that's been reported now or before, I'm sure it's being worked on.

It's been a long time since I got a newbie welcome mail, but if you want a bit of an overview to find your way around, this post is a bit of a road map:

Thanks for the test mail, I got it fine. The other invisible one was still there though, and even though I clicked "Move original to trash on successful send" and "Place a backup copy in outbox folder", I can't see them. I hope I'm not missing something blindingly obvious (which means I almost certainly am). One thing though, is that I'm apparently using 0K out of my 250K quota, which doesn't seem right. Did you receive my reply?

Oh, and thanks for the pointer to the introduction. Perfect!

Apparently this was one of those attention seeking problems that eventually just go away if you ignore them long enough - I no longer have any invisible mail! :-) Hooray. I'll stop talking to myself now.

I have the same problem - had it for ages. But maybe, if I'm patient enough...

I think this is just because of cached pages in your browser. Press CTRL-F5 (Internet Explorer) and it should clear.

Thanks for the message. You should have received a reply.

Once I deleted the genuine message, I no longer got the "you have mail" message - same as happened to mischief. Seems to be a mini-buglet in the BBS software

PS just received your confirmation of my confirmation! Every thing seems to be working hunky-dory now
