I always wind up back at WW

for whichever web-related tech subject I'm searching

Just can't stay away from this place. Go to Google, search for affiliate link software. Where do I wind up? Back at WW. Good anti-spam stuff? WW again. An easy to use and install site search? Yep, WW. Whatever script I think I need at the time? Back to WW. How about a mod_rewrite tutorial? You it got, WW.

Spent the last hour searching for info on CSS and the liquid 3-column layout. Already have most of Nick's and the other folks very good threads flagged. Where do I wind up again? WW! And finding even better snippets of solid info.

Why bother leaving this place? (Well, it is easier to use Google to search the site.)

Thanks much to all,

Jim

That's funny Jim, the same thing happens to me. I nearly always wind up back here. I also find many members who speak out on these topics turning up with their own sites flanking Webmasterworld, perhaps a collateral benefit of posting and then linking from your own site to those relevant discussions you’ve participated in.

It's even funnier when I recently did a search trying to find the answer to a question in Google. There was a link in the top ten that might answer my question. I click on it without realizing that it's going to WebmasterWorld. I wind up at a post where I answered a slightly different but related question posted by another member. It took me a couple of seconds to realize what had happened.

Thanks to Freshbot, I've had several times where I was searching for some information to help out on a post here, and Google actually gave me the page for the question I was working on -- because, of course, it contains the releveant keywords.

Haha, Jim starts the discussion and then 1,2,3 mods saying yes and surprise, I was researching a subject and hey but what popped up, something I had to say. Go figure but Webmasterworld is a power in the industry focused on promoting knowledge about doing biz on the web.

It's not an ego thing, maybe it's a challenge or encouragement to all those competing for the positions where Webmasterworld turns up in searches, come join us and share your knowledge.

Isn't this an example of one of the things that makes Webmasterworld so successful? First, we see the incredible versatility of knowledge combined with this willingness to share. It defies common sense yet it compels me, and obviously hundreds of others.
