Question about edited posts

forgive me if this is a stupid question.

When someone edits a post, they normally have a tag added which says that it was editied and when. But I never see this on my edited posts. Is there a reason for this, like a setting somewhere? Or does everyone else see the 'edited by' line on my posts except me?

I added this second paragraph afterwards as a case in point - I don't see any 'edited by' text.

Unless someone have posted below you, the tag will not appear at the bottom of your post.

So I should see it now?

Hi Receptional_Andy,

Not sure but I think it adds [edited] after you have received a reply and you have went back to your original post to add something else!

So if I edit a post before anyone has replied it doesn't add the line. Pretty clever ;)

Sure - it's just there to give you the opportunity to clean up typos, but not change the context of the post too much. If someone replies, then they should know you changed the post.

>clean up typos

That's exactly what I was doing before I posted this message - cleaning up typos in a post. I was trying to figure out why it didn't add the [edited..] bit.

I figured it was pure chance that people couldn't see that I keep having to edit my appalling spelling ;) but it turns out WW knew exactly what it was doing :)

Hi,

As you are alike me in spelling I find it useful to do the 'Preview' first :-) (less said about my spelling the better hehe ;)

Wonderful question Andy, I was just wondering the same. Glad it's clear now.
