Forum Moderators: open
In particular, it talks about how communities have failed under the weight of too-fast growth, hostility, spam, etc. "Forums that lack any mechanism for ejecting or controlling hostile users ... have often broken down under the weight of users hostile to the conversation." I couldn't agree more. While everyone should read the terms and the individual charters, I view the rules of this ant colony as being simple in their fundamentals:
#1 - Be courteous and polite, even if the other member is a jerk
#2 - You can only talk about anything related to what you do on the web in generic terms. No one should be able to figure out your websites from your posts or nick, nor should they be prompted (publicly) to "contact you for more information."
#3 - No hot-button issues like religion or politics.
#4 - No tattling.
