I like jumping on emerging trends to get into markets before the crowds. A recent one is 3D printing. I am considering ways I can open a web storefront and use a 3D printer to make cash. I thought about Shapeways as well as some other method. I even found a decent discussion on 3D printing business ideas: [3dprintboard.com...]

I can see your logic for wanting to get into the market early, the big question has to be "can you offer something unique?"

If you are simply going to offer a printing service then you may struggle. Entering into any market can be a challenge, unfortunately you may find your market being flooded with competition with deep pockets.

Try and think where the future of the industry is heading and get your company there now.
