Google has just launched a secured version of Google.com. It is in beta. Google Search uses an encrypted connection to Google' datacenters and servers. It helps the data being searched from your computer to google server will be encrypted. This secured channel helps protect your search terms and your search results pages from being intercepted by a third party. This provides you with a more secure and private search experience.

Hi poiuy, this is not a totally new feature, Google has been experimenting already a few months with it. A previous discussion can be found here [webmasterworld.com]. It may be that they rolled out the feature only recently in your area though.
