I have a windows 2000 file server with (2) software raid arrays.
OS was mirrored, with the files on a raid 5 array. the mirror failed, and I mean really failed. both drives went. after replacing the drives and installing a basic OS, the idea was to import the raid 5 array, get the image for the file server boot array from backup (on the raid 5 array, not the best idea in retrospect), write the image to the new drives and re-import the array to the (now) completely restored machine. no problems. however when attempting to import the raid 5 array, I get a message stating that the data is incomplete (shouldnt be, it was functioning perfectly before the mirror went, all drives in the array are present and healthy) and data will be lost when importing. any ideas? seems unlikely that both arrays would go from healthy to facata in a single reboot. is it wise to ignore this message and import anyway?
thanks in advance
