Is there any option on software/hardware loadbalancer to redirect to specific host(in private network)based on the original URL request.

example:

i have 10 webservers with 10 subdomains on each of them.

The loadbalancer should receive the request and redirect the request to internal webserver based on the subdomain name.

Please let me know if any such option exists.

Hi Kranthi,

Such options exist and are called reverse proxies. An easy way to implement it is to run a Linux server as public frontend which is installed with specific proxy software like Squid. General webserver software like Apache can also be configured to function as a reverse proxy server. An advantage of using proxy software over a hardware load balancer is that it can also be configured to cache static parts of your sites (images, CSS files etc) reducing the number of requests issued to the backend webservers.
